UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Everything seems to be complete, but the domain name is still propagating (if you’re seeing this you’re getting the new site). The “other goals” haven’t been touched yet and I’m not sure I’m going to work on a PDA version of the site, there’s some weirdness involved on how I handle custom fields.
This site will be undergoing lots of maintenance from now until August 10, 2009 (but will likely be done before that).
This includes:
– Adding new sites.
– Deleting out of date sites.
– Migrating to a new host (Site5.com). HAPPENING RIGHT NOW (Morning of Tuesday, August 4, 2009). This may still take some time to propagate domain names.
– Migrating to a new platform (WordPress). MOSTLY COMPLETED AT THE DESTINATION (expect some minor bugs).
Things are working so far, but I know the domain name hasn’t propagated around everywhere yet. But the transition seems like it’s going better than expected. I’ll clean up the sidebars and add some of the other details but all the memes are here.
The biggest thing right now is that you CANNOT suggest any memes, hope to have that fixed in the next few days. You can now submit your meme.
This host migration will cause a few glitches but I’ll try to make it as transparent as possible. The feeds might break so keep that in mind and don’t forget about us.
Once it gets over the the new format in WordPress it might not auto-magically show today’s memes, you might need to click the link for the appropriate day (left sidebar).
Other goals: (not expected to be done by the 10th).
– I’m trying to figure out a way to give vote for sites. Honestly not so much as a ranking system as I’d like to have sites that update be at the top of the list and sites that haven’t updated be at the bottom. Just something to bump updated sites more to the top of the list so that visitors don’t hit the few sites that haven’t updated yet this week first. To label the sites as “recently updated” or “last updated on”. I have NO IDEA how I’m going to do this so I’ll take suggestions.
– I’d like this updating system to somehow carry over to the RSS/Atom feeds.
– Of course I’d always like to keep it more up to date. But having non-updated sites float to the bottom will help solve this.
